The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to describe the role of computers in everyday life and to operate a personal computer safely in a supervised environment.

Aim:

  1. To introduce the learner to computers
  2. To give the learner confidence in using and understanding computers
  3. To introduce the learner to computer terminology and computer components
  4. To give the learner confidence in connecting up all components of a computer
  5. To support the learner to correctly start-up and shut down a computer independently.
  6. To enable learners to understand basic ergonomic and health and safety around using a computer
  7. To understand the impact of computers in everyday life.
  8. To introduce the learner to basic fie management
  9. To allow the learner to access and use basic elements of software applications e.g. Microsoft  Word, Microsoft Outlook (Email), Internet Explorer (The Internet), etc

Preferred entry level and entry requirements:
No previous qualifications are required

Recognition of Prior Learning:

Prior learning can only be applied to gain admission to a programme and does not allow learners the opportunity to skip individual modules.

Transfer and Progression:

Information and guidance is available to all learners on potential transfer and progression pathways.

Note:
Protection for Enrolled Learners is not required as this course is less than 3 months in duration.
